(I held out on the whole LJ thing a long, long time, for reasons that included the World's Most Terrible LJ-Inspired Flame War, Parts I and II, which destroyed a message board I really liked. And then I thought, hey, I can get one and not even post or anything, just for the flist, and it will be fine, right? And then I was over on FT and I had a Sudden Inspiration on the FF thread, and, well...all I'm saying is, you never know why you will need a LJ. But you do.)

Doesn't LJ require a code, or something like that, in order to get an account without paying for it? (I pay over on Diaryland - not much, but some, and I'd rather not double-up.) I'm not exactly sure how the whole thing works.

Wait...am I agreeing to this? How did that happen? Must..stiffen...resistance...

The LordPeter mods read your email commentary I forwarded to them, and the universal consensus was that I should at least take another stab at recruiting you to the list, because they all loved your take on Harriet and Talboys. Plus, they like having a strong, articulate poster with contrary opinions who can rile up the list from time to time *g*

You don't need a code now; you can just sign up for a free account, which is what I did. Go to the front page and it will show you how. Become one of us!

It seems to me that a trade is in order - you join LJ, which we all know you SHOULD do, and I will join the LordPeter list, which we all know I *want* to do. Query, though: how high-volume is it? That will determine which email account I use, which is pretty much why I've been putting it off. Indecision is my middle name.

Oh, and did I send you the email about Parker? I can't remember if I wrote it and saved it for later or wrote it and actually sent it. Because, tragically, my brain does not work.

Ok, ok, damnit. I am now livejournaled! It'll be nice not to have to be anonymous anymore, so I suppose it's all for the best *g*

The list isn't all that high-volume (for me, anyway - if you go the digest route, which is 25 emails per digest, you usually don't get more than two digests a day, and I would say that's rare, even.) Right now, being the summer doldrums, things are burbling along very quietly indeed, which reminds me - I need to go make a post to stir things up a bit.

Oh, damn - forgot to say that yes, you did send me the email about Parker, and I enjoyed it a great deal, because I was feeling down about having a favorite character being labled "unimaginative." An insult to a favorite character is an insult to me! Pistols at dawn!

Uh, and sorry for cluttering up your comments - I probably should have just emailed this, but I'm testing out my new toy *g*

Clutter all you want. It just says to the world: I've got a LJ, and I'm not afraid to use it. And may I say how deeply impressed I am that you have an icon already? I had this journal for weeks and weeks before I had any icons at all, and I'll still be moping in the icon loser doldrums if it wasn't for the kindness of makesmewannadie.

So, now time for me to do battle with Yahoo! Groups on the subject of Lord Peter, no?

*pulls out sword of wrathful internet vengeance and goes marching off to war*
