What's not wrong in this damn place? People are shooting lightning at each other, being morons and my little girl's upset. Maybe we could get another acid rain while we're at it.

My daughter just cried herself to sleep and I can't do anything about what's upsetting her. How about that one?

Well, if you really can't do anything about it, then you just have to accept that that's part of growing up.

Part of growing up?! She's had a hard enough time growing up in the first place! She doesn't need this fucking place helping out with that -

All you can do is hold her hand and promise that everything will be okay. She may already know that you can't promise that, but she may just need to hear it.

That doesn't matter. I should be able to fix this. I shouldn't have to watch her be sad cause it's about growing up or some shit!

But you will. That is the hard truth of the matter. Every child one day realizes that their parents are not omniscient or omnipotent, and that life can be cruel and painful. And every parent realizes that they can't protect their children from everything, and that they must watch their children suffer because that is the only way to survive.

I wish I weren't. But I know that's what my mother felt, watching me and my sister growing up. At least you can be there to hold her hand and tell her that somehow, it'll all be all right.
