Summary : Bones is a werewolf.
The moment he meant James Kirk, got a good whiff of his scent, he knew he was fucked.
He had thought those stories about werewolves scenting their mate were all bullshit.
But the stories about mating for life have got to be fake, right? Right?
My Rave Review :
asimaiyat was in the mood for a fic, and she asked her flist: I would like it please if someone could recommend to me a McCoy/Kirk fic where McCoy is realizing that he has fallen head over heels in love with someone for whom the relationship is unlikely to mean nearly the same thing that it means to him, not because Kirk isn't a good or loving person but simply because they're used to approaching relationships in different ways and are at different places in their lives. And he is aware that this is going to hurt in a lot of little ways followed more or less inevitably by one big way, and is rather grumpy to himself about it, but somehow he finds himself throwing himself into the relationship in spite of everything, knowing that the more he falls, the more he is a total masochistic idiot. And I would like if in this fic it is somehow suggested that he is not really the idiot he thinks he is, but that there is somehow something beautiful and noble about totally losing one's sense of self-preservation for love. Somehow. There has to be, right?

i don't read a lot of kirk/mccoy, it's just not my pairing, but i read this fic after it was casually rec'ced on my flist with the little note, BONES IS A WEREWOLF. and he has imprinted onto jim kirk. self-preservation, ur doin it rong. and this fic is great because i love pining, and omg the pining is FANTASTIC here, and i love ensemble fics, and mission fics, and everyone's doing their jobs and being badass at it, and i love that the author was brave enough to make spock the comedy relief and do it well. this fic is so perfect.
there's a really satisfying and hot sex scene, too. :D
