but shortened:
Sidestepped Seattle and Buffalo for a urban farmers market manager/farm maintenence position in Brooklyn. Fate decreed that i should have neither of the three and instead I'm moving into a rent-free apartment [full 1 bedroom unit under a ranch house with seperate entrance] that faces the woods and a creek in South Atlanta. I'll be taking care of the chickens and dogs and generally upkeeping and expanding a medicinal/sacred garden. BESIDES that, I'm contracted for the summer with Outward Bound (making more doing part-time work than if i worked a full overtime) and I'm working on a massive urban farm one train ride north.
Basically I'm doing what i wanted to do in NYC. Except:
- I have housing
- it's near my family
- schedule is randomized (LOVE THAT)
- i'm surrounded by AMINALS (chickens, 2 grown dogs, 3 puppies, a turkey and soon some goats)
- privacy for my solitary ways
- right under my godfamily
- FREEDOM*
*freedom = being able to drink deep into the night and chainsmoke while tending the comfrey. Something i tried to mix with my term of service with Americorps/Outward Bound but had alot of trouble doing (Turns out people are more obsessed with Form of service than Content. Who'da thunk?!)
I'm happy. Funny, spent so much time running from Atlanta and it's drama that i missed out on the positives of this space. HILARIOUS.
