Pag-unawa (Again)

Dec 23, 2010 09:39

I always, always get picked on to answer the doorbell. Especially this Christmastime, when it is inculcated in the Filipino culture for everyone to turn into tramps and beg for gifts from anyone, anywhere.

Typical convo goes:

MOMMY: Go out and get the water/telephone/newspaper/electric bill downstairs.

ME: (Random grunts of sheer reluctance and displeasure) Hihingi nanaman iyan ng pamasko eh!

MOMMY: Go ahead, tell them your parents aren't home and you are not allowed to talk to strangers.

SARAH: Or tell them we don't believe in Christmas. We're atheists, sorry.

I pity the people who deliver our utility bills. I really do.

barat, christmas
