Pairing Socks

Dec 16, 2008 18:11

After every laundry cycle, the washed clothes are brought up and plunked on my bed for me to sort and put in my closet. Sometimes, due to my excessive procrastination these articles of clothing remain where they are for days or so. But that's another post.

This includes my socks, which naturally I have to pair before putting in my socks holder. This chore I absolutely hate, because for one it requires a little more thinking on my part compared to merely transporting it to the closet, and ergo tiring. It is not helped by the fact that a good 80% of all my socks are white, very identical, making it difficult for me to distinguish properly. Yes, I am soooo lazy. And so I practically bungle the job, resulting into mismatched socks.

Yesterday,  I finally got tired of wearing  a mismatched pair of socks for the nth time, and so I got down and began a massive, sock-pairing operation that took me a good 30 minutes to do. It was some work. Matching socks can be hard, especially if they have beem mismatched for the longest time. Yes. You'll have to analyze every sock, scrutinize the very subtle woven pattern of every pair, and finally determine if this little sock here has finally found its pair to accompany it in its little formed ball. This could very well be a metaphor for love! (What the hell am I saying.)

But don't get me wrong, my socks are not all organized just yet; it annoys me to find out that there are still some missing pairs, lost perhaps somewhere in the house. But nevertheless, it's comforting to know that a majority of my socks are now organized. Yipee!

clothes, dreary stuff
