So, it appears if I respond to someone else's blog, I feel I have to repost it here. Hm. Um, don't look free content in the mouth? So, thus:
Where do rights come from? From the government? General consensus? God? Space aliens? Are they inherent in human nature? If so, are they consistent across time and place, or are they contingent? Are some rights more fundamental than others? If so, why?
What makes something a right?
Is it possible for something to to be a right for one person, but not for another?
Are new rights ever created? Out of what?
If one person or group has something, do other persons or groups automatically have a right to it, too?
Can rights conflict with each other? If so, how do you choose between them?
Define "right".
