I think I almost prefer the silence of death. This place has an unsettling aura about it.

It's--

I don't know what to say. You're alive.

It's rather interesting and somewhat refreshing to see you again. Do you remember? We only spoke once, and that was on the day of your creation. I have many questions, about Auldrant and the Score, but I'll hold off on them in favor of asking how life has been treating you.

Yes, I remember. I didn't understand, but I knew you were special and somehow made me different; I just couldn't put my finger on what was going on.

Ah... I suppose life has been fair for me. I was dead prior to appearing here, so it was only so fair.

The fact you managed to last as long as you did impresses me. I didn't anticipate your fonons to hold together for so long. I'm pleased to see my judgement wasn't misplaced.

I see. I take it your seventh fonons simply grew unstable and you disappeared?

... You know how long I lived after your death?

No. Well, in part, that would be true. I read from the fonstone in Mt. Zaleho; if that wouldn't have killed me, absorbing so much miasma into my body would have.

I can only make assumptions.

Miasma? Interesting. Did you purposely absorb it? I'm sure even you know the dangers of the miasma.

The official records would have noted that the Fon Master celebrated his 14th birthday, but died before his 15th.

I did. A dear friend of mine was dying from a build-up of miasma, and it seemed so sad to repay the world's savior with death.

...I see.

What a foolish, selfless act.

I couldn't just let her die.

You very well could have. If she was doomed to die then you shouldn't have interfered. Your act of kindness brought you nothing but death in the end.

Doomed to die?

... Her death wasn't mentioned in the Score. Nothing that was happening was mentioned in the Score.

While I cannot speak about the so-called deviations from the Score that might have taken place, I do know that the inhalation of miasma is nothing short of fatal. If she inhaled it, without your intervention, I'm confident she would have died sooner or later.

... Oh, I see what you mean.

Tear didn't inhale the miasma. It was a side effect of working with the Sephiroths.

I see. ...An event such as that certainly isn't preordained in the Score.
