Our mystery chocolate leaver started leaving moar random stuff, mostly food, in front of our door... I guess it was only two weeks ago that it started, but we got about 3000Y worth of stuff in the end, including soap (?), a sausage (?), Oreos (?), kurogoma pudding (?), sakuranbo gelatin (?), and... damn, what a weird pile of stuff. But what really ( Read more... )

Yeah, the doujinshi con was supposed to be the biggest in all of Osakafu. It ended pretty early though, and since there was a Phoenix Wright convention happening in Tokyo the same weekend, there was no Phoenix Wright porn to be had at all... but a girl from my hall went to THAT con and sold me some of what she brought back xDDD

It was pretty incredible, just four Otakon-dealers-room-size halls filled with doujinshi, and a section with homemade stationery and stuff. But I'm about ten years behind on what's popular, so all I scored was a Bleach Ukitake/Shunsui doujin and some original books that grabbed me because the characters were wearing Heian-jidai costumes, and I'm a sucker for Heian/Fujiwara stuff.

My god, it was a long-ass trip. A half hour of Keihan train, a half hour of Osaka subway, and a half hour of Port Town tram! Insanity! At least Den Den Town is just a straight shot on the subway (now that I know a non-stupid way of getting there, lol). I totally wanna take you around Den Den Town! :D And Spa World. Osaka is the greatest city on earth.

Where are you staying at? Cuz if it's Tokyo, you're going to have to night-bus or shinkansen to get here. But then you'll probably have a JR pass if you're going to be in Tokyo, and that'll make the shinkansen less like wallet-rape and more like an awesome way of getting places.

First thing you should do when you get here is grab yourself some Yukimi Daifuku. :D

As for the food-leaver, I wish they'd said their name at least. Grumble!

We will be staying at Hotel Ajia Kaikan, which is very close to Narita airport in Tokyo. :o From what I keep hearing from Dr. Metraux it's a pretty nice place, so that is where we will be staying during the trip. Do you remember Aja Harvey and Shannen Luchs from our Beginning Japanese class back in freshman year? They're coming with me for the trip and they're the girls that I'm staying with at the hotel.

...and yes, yumiki daifuku sounds wonderful. I've yet to try it :o <3
