Cookie Monster

Looks like the Cookie Monster is cutting back on his favorite snack. Health and fitness advisors for Sesame Street tell CBS 6 that the Cookie Monster's days of stuffing is face with sweets are over. The idea isn't sweet news to some faithful viewers. "That's crazy. Can you see cookie monster on a treadmill,?" says Anthony Carvann. In a newly released music video, featuring Wyclef Jean, the Cookie Monster is rapping to kids about eating healthy. Some young viewers say it's a good message to see the Cookie Monster promoting healthier living. But some who grew up with the larger version of the furry monster are skeptical saying that taking away or making him cut back his cookie consumption is just wrong. "Why the Cookie Monster? There's other fat people to mess with," says Pete Conley. Officials at Sesame Street say they plan on using the Cookie Monster to spread the important message of eating healthy foods and exercising. "It's a good thing. To try and make him lose weight...it teaches these kids not to want all these sweets," says Arnette Person. The newer, slimmer puppet will soon be seen on videos and PBS.
