I haven't updated in a long time, but for some reason I felt like I really wanted to share what a nice weekend I had, even if it's with the internets.
I had a three-day weekend (thanks Veterans!) which I needed pretty badly, as I have had several "sleeping 14-hours" episodes recently. So basically I slept late Friday, which was delightful. Then I talked to my pal Ashley Peterson! on the phone for a long time, which was nice and fun. After that, Justin called and told me our friends Major and Carolyn were arriving here after driving cross-country from The Burg. I hadn't seen these guys in years, so it was awesome to hang out with them again. Between Justin calling and Major and Carolyn getting here, I got an Atari. An ATARI guys. SO MANY of the games on Atari make little to no sense whatsoever, and there are so many flaws. I remembered being awesome at Pitfall when I was a kid, but playing it now exposed the fact that I do actually suck at it. HOWEVER, Pong is the shit. Seriously, better than tennis. I could (and will!) play it for hours.
So anyways, Friday was awesome. Then Saturday I got to see Demetri Martin at the Showbox, which was completely different kinds of nice and awesome. I haven't driven downtown since August since I'd been plagued by anxiety, but I decided to drive myself down there cause I was fucking determined to see this guy. And you know what? Driving felt so good. I felt like I could drive fast, and confident, and forever. At any rate I got down there and Demetri Martin was so pleasant and funny. I really really love that guy. Before I went to the show, I had a conversation on the phone with my mom which went something like this:
MOM: So, do you think you could hang out after the show and meet him?
ME: Not really. I'm seeing the earlier of two shows.
(PAUSE)
ME: Why did you just ask that?
MOM: I just think he'd make a really great son-in-law!
Mom, you are so right. I wish.
Sunday was shitty outside, so I stayed in and read magazines and Barack Obama's book. But it was still somehow comforting and pleasant.
Monday I had an outstanding food day after work. I immediately started cooking when I got home. I made spaghetti and linguini in pesto sauce with chicken, and peas. I also had a coke. Then for dessert I had a FOR REAL creme brulee which is my favorite all-time dessert. I burnt it a little, but it was still great--the caramelly top was all cracking and shit. With that I had some hot tea Justin got: "Honey Vanilla White Tea Chai." Is that even possible? I don't care cause it was delicious. Tuesday for lunch I got a pesto tondo sandwich which has this insane pesto sauce, smoked turkey, tomato, swiss, and lettuce on some kind of bun, and it's heated up (I get these once or twice a week from this place across the street from my office). In addition I got an amazing smoothie called freckled lemonade which has lemonade, strawberries, and raspberry sherbet. Good food times.
Aside from that, nothing too report. EXCEPT that when I woke up today, the news was flashing this "BREAKING NEWS: TSUNAMI WATCH ISSUED" thing that freaked me out. It was related to an earthquake in Japan, and nothing ended up happening, but still. West coast is interesting. Also, the weather here is sucking, but at least I can have pleasant times anyways.
Only other news: I like Wowee Zowee a lot now, cause I got the reissue and listened to it about a dozen times.
I'm the winner!
