Thanks! Hard to know - she's always been the sibling who's got it together, can deal with anything, you know? She's been surrounded all weekend with friends and family, so at least she hasn't had to be alone. ugh. so terrible.
Oh so sorry to hear this news about your BIL What a shock to your sister..........
BUT I am (((((((happy)))))))) to hear you did what I have been debating to do, get a kitty. I am a definite cat person and live 6 miles from the Sherwood Cat Shelter...... I am sooooooooooooooooooooo tempted to go out there My sister thinks I ought to volunteer for awhile as awhile back I had dander issues...........
BTW am afraid also due to the probability of coming home with more than one. :-/
Thanks! I'm sure it hasn't all really hit her yet.
And yes - I am also super happy I got the kitty. The big shelter here is full of volunteers. They all looked like they really enjoyed their jobs, plus I knew I picked a good cat when they were all commenting on how friendly she was and liked to spend time with her. Luckily no issues with dander yet for me, fingers crossed. :)
Also, one is definitely enough for me!! When I was thinking it over, people kept saying I needed to get two so they would be friends. Took me a year to decide on just one! No thanks! ;)
".....people kept saying I needed to get two so they would be friends."
((((NODS))))))what's strange about that is NONE of them have more than one.
I am so tempted. I had a cat when I was stationed in San Diego and never had dander issues, but when I got another one when I was living in Sacramento it was terrible. I guess I could spend some time volunteering, even though the cat shelter has told me I can bring it back I could NOT do that. It is not like a tv or something inanimate.

I hear ya! When I took her in for a first vet check-up, it looked like she might have bigger problems (she's already cost me a pretty penny getting her teeth fixed). When telling my mom, she said: can't you just take her back to the shelter?
Um. NO! I felt like explaining that's what I signed on for when I adopted her, but realized it didn't matter. I just said I'd see it through even if it was to make her more comfortable for however long.
