Ben gave me Torchlight yesterday, on the basis that it's a) like Diablo (I enjoy games where I can just run around killing monsters and not have to bother with puzzles or lengthy NPC interaction) and b) I get to have a pet lynx in it. Therefore this has become my new most favourite game ever. EVER.
In NaNo news, there has been a massive upheaval in the story. Yesterday I reached 2,000 (my personal daily wordcount) quite easily; but I just wasn't feeling it. Usually, every minute of my waking day is spent either writing or thinking about writing and being totally hyperactive about the excitement of it all. This time, I just felt quite apathetic about the whole thing.
While mucking out this morning I realised what the issue was - my modern setting! I initially set it in the present day because I wanted to draw from the whole folklore of the Anglo-Saxon elf and the Viking berserker ... buuut that meant my MC had a boring real world life with boring everyday chores and general boringness. And that's not why I write.
So ... plot and characters remain more or less the same, I've just transported them to a fantasy world with swords and taverns and all the stuff I love. Now I'm really enjoying myself.
Also, in this version, my MC gets a pony. :D A TINY FUZZY PONY WITH HORNS. <3
