i just ate a delicious pomegranate. oh how i enjoy food that is labor intensive.
so yesterday i submitted my application for a summer internship with U.S. Foreign Services.
my top pick is working at the U.N. in Geneva and my second choice is with the Bureau of African Affairs, hopefully in west Africa.
it makes me delirious with joy to think of being out of milledgeville from may to august, much less in a place that i already know i would love to live. it helps that lauren will be studying in geneva starting in january so she could help me find a flat to sublet and get me settled. i'd be able to go to paris, to germany, maybe even further away. i literally get so happy when i think of it.
there is of course the possibility that i won't get it, or that they'll place me in Washington D.C. or NYC but of course i wouldn't protest to be there either. working in geneva i would be a "top secret" junior foreign services officer hanging out at the U.N. for 40 hours a week, not getting paid for it. in Africa i would most likely be out in a community working with educators.
i want this so bad.
