Depends what's on the layer. Either flatten all your layers first or Go to the first layer >select all>edit stroke. Make sure you set position to inside. And of course, make sure You set stroke to something dark and that it is thick enough. There shouldn't be an issue.
I've used this same method many many times before to make avatars and user icons and stuff, so I mean, I usually don't have a problem. I checked to make sure that the stroke was thick enough, and that it was a color that I would easily be able to see.
My problem lies in the fact that no matter what I do I can't get the damn stroke to APPEAR even though it says I laid it down. It's even more frustrating that I was able to add a border to the text layer, but not to the background image... and it wouldn't let me add one to the background image of a different project I was trying to do earlier this week, either.
Flatten image. Control J (duplicates layer). Select all. (on top, duplicated layer) Go to edit. Stroke. Set position to "inside".
Make sure you set the stroke thickness to something visable which will be entirely based on what you set the PPI to. Just to make sure you aren't retarded, set it to bright pink and 300 pixels thick.
Anyway, that totally worked. I'm really concerned with why it got fucked up in the first place, but at least I got my thing done. At least it works now... I really appreciate your help.
Coincidentally the color I was making it was already bright pink:
You probably pasted the image into a smaller document and the stroke was outside the document window. That's what i bet it was. You have a case of the dumbz.
