You mean it's a MUSICAL, pt II
I've recently found another Cool New Musical. I've been meaning to blog about it for several weeks now, so it may be old news to some of you. My apologies.
I'm extremely curious about Repo! The Genetic Opera. Set is a dystopian not-to-distant-future, this is a rock opera where a plague has ravaged humanity and organ failure is common place. Luckily a company called GeneCo has brought affordable organ transplants into the mainstream. Want a new lung, a new liver, a new FACE? Done and done. Only problem is that if you fault on your payment the RepoMan comes to kill you and take back your organs. The trailer has an awesome look to it. Take Hedwig, Rocky Horror, Moulin Rogue, and Saw into a blender and it might look and sound something like this trailer. Due to the difficulty in marketing this film, it is getting an extremely small release this winter and quickly going to DVD.
Now for the catch. Paris Hilton is in it. Normally this would be a deal breaker for me, but...well read that last paragraph. Now try and not be intrigued. Based on what I've read it's not like she has a starring role either. This is NOT a Paris Hilton vehicle. It is merely a movie musical in which the camera sometimes points itself at Paris Hilton. But she's in a lot of makeup, and under a wig, so that's good. And any movie in which she plays a rich tycoon's daughter who is addicted to plastic surgery and painkillers may just be too smart for its own good. Certainly not skirting around the elephant in the room at least.
So keep your eyes open for this thing. I'll report more when I have more to say.
