Last nite was a waste of time and money. I went to see Straylight Run at the Patchogue Theatre. The two opening acts sucked so much. They both played nothing but acoustic music. The first act was just some annoying guy. Just because you sing loudly does not make it good singing. And don't get me wrong, acoustic music can be great, but these people had no skill at it. Every song sounded the same. So we left after the first song of the first act. Came back later and he was still on. Finally the second act comes on, and this time there are two people, but still only playing acoustic guitars. They were better than the first act. I thought they were quite good, but nothing unique. They had many songs about "the American way." And who sings about flowers with broken backs? Finally Starylight Run came on. They were good. Seems like they are adding random members to the band. But whatever. At one point Melissa comments to me that she doesn't like who they have become, and ten seconds after she says that, the dancers come out on stage. Holy fuck, I don't know what they were thinking. They looked like yoga class dropouts, shaking their tits. It was so ridiculous. So they play some more songs. It was nice. And then they bring out an orchestra, but it looked like they went to the local high school and got a couple of juniors to bring their instruments and play on stage. We stayed for about two seconds of that song, just to see how it sounded with the now 10 or so people on the over-crowded stage playing instruments, when the 6 dancers come back out. And we walked out, and left. It wasn't that bad of a show, some of it was nice. The dancers need to go. And the atmosphere sucked. I knew that would be bad though, since it was an all age show. So you had all these young emo kids getting dropped off by their parents. Now for the best part: there were wads of duct tape on the ground, and Melissa got some stuck to her feet (kind of like how people get toilet paper stuck to their feet), so I took it off her and just stuck it to the wall. That way no one else would step on it. Maybe I would have put it in the trash, had I seen any. So then this guy starts complaining to me to take it off the wall. So I started complaining to him that maybe they should keep their theatre cleaner and whatnot. What a fucking shit hole.
