The next time I gripe about having to trim my kids 60 toe nails... remind me that today I did somewhere between 1200 and 1500.  No joke.  1200 and 1500 ferret toes.  I also did the corresponding 120 to 150 ears.

Yes, I went to work at the GCFA today.  I did 30 (out of about 50) cages of ferrets today.  I gave them the ferret version of an oil and filter change:  trim all 20 toenails and clean two ears.  30 cages, most with 2 ferrets in them, though about a thirdish had 3 and a couple only had one... yeah, that's about 60 ferrets times 20 nails each.

There was a boy there who put Spirit to shame - only he was more fluffy than 'just fat' like thunder butt.  But he had to have been going on 5 lbs.  See Sheeko.

Oh, also in the reminder department.  Please feel free to remind me - frequently - that just because I'm volunteering there, I don't need to bring home souviniers.  Because, seriously, Chordy is just adorable.  Spirit's coloring and possibly smaller and skinnier than Magick.

Oh, and there was an 11 month old girl who was like... Spirit-sized.  Slightly less dense, but easily as big.  And you know, not a year old.  Gorgeous.

You can count on me never, ever adopting an adrenal ferret.  I feel for the bald little suckers, but... creepy.  I handled a few of them today to do their feet and ears and... they're *hot* for one.  I'm used to having a thick layer of fur between me and their blood.  Ferrets run about 101 normally, adrenal ferrets can run warmer than that, and when you're getting a hand full of hot ferret skin, it's kind of creepy.  Also?  Ferrets have elephant skin... more skin than innards to fill them.

ferrets - not!mine
