So, you know, it being Cinco de Mayo and all, I decided to make guacamole. I have done this before... sort of. There were things I decided I needed to do to improve the next batch.
One was "add garlic." You guys, a head of garlic confounds me on a level that is completely unacceptable for someone over the age of nine. It just is.
The other was "add onion". Now, I don't keep onions in the house because *I don't like them.* However, I recognize their usefulness in a glob of guacamole. So when I got avacados, I made sure to get an onion. Guess what I forgot to actually *put in the guacamole*? Uh huh. So now I have underflavored guacamole (that just wasn't going to tolerate being put through the food processor again) and an onion I can't use BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE ONIONS!
*sigh* This is why I should not be allowed in a kitchen unescorted.
In other kitchen related news, I decided that since I'm broke beyond the telling of it, and yet have rekindled my love for candy making, mom is getting chocolates and a card that says, in essence, 'it's Mother's Day, screw the diet, just a little.' So I have made chocolates. I hope like hell they aren't a big ridiculous melted mess when they hit Florida, since dad says Florida is already seeing 90 degree days.
sigh,
family,
ways i am stupid,
cooking,
