The prodigal camera has returned! They told me it would be 3-5 weeks and it was 5 days. Either they are the BOSS of lowering expectations or I hit a major lull in activity at Canon. They cleaned the lens, sensor and body and repaired a problem with the focus that I honestly didn't realize I was having. So ... score. And all for 'free' since I have the mega-inclusive expanded warranty.
I noticed today that I end up on that corner, or at least that general area - Chicago and Michigan Avenues - fairly frequently (Camera store, Mac store and when I used to have money, the local LUSH and there *used* to be an awesome Borders all right there) and that I *always* take the Red Line (El) down there but I take the bus home. I have no idea why. It doesn't have to do with avoiding the El at certain times - though, yeah, avoiding the rush on the Red Line is good when you can do it - or that the bus happens to be there, so what the hell. I just *do*. Of course today I grabbed a 145 that was only going up to Grace Street instead of all the way up to Wilson like I needed it to. I hate that they do that in Chicago. It's all the same route number, but it's only half the route. The 145s do it and so do the 151s. Makes me crazy because if you aren't being hyper observant of the signs on the side of the bus, you only get half-way home before you have to change buses. In today's case a 135 that was going to the exact same stop I had *thought* the 145 was going to came by 2 minutes later, but still. Gr. Make the half route a different number. Like, I don't know... 145 1/2! (146 and 144 are both completely different routes.)
Anyway, the camera and I are both home less than 2 hours after I left. Yay Chicago transit! :)
