Why not? :D I saw a pre-air, not totally finished version of the pilot, and it was decent (probably to improve a bit after final edit tightening, final music, final FX penciled in.) It was a pretty close copy of the british pilot - story beat by story beat - but that's typical of US remakes of UK shows. The pilot is often a clone, and after that they find their own voice, so I wouldn't hold that against them.
And for everyone bitching and moaning about how the US one could never evah live up to the UK one... well, a lot of them were probably the same people bitching and moaning that the UK one could never live to the recasting they went through after that first pilot (both the vamp and the ghost chick were replaced.) Frankly, I much prefered the original cast, but the UK one really found its footing, and I don't see why the US one couldn't do the same.
If you're prone to dismiss things out of hand, I'd consider, maybe, waiting a week or two to see if eps 2 and 3 branch out as much as hoped from the pilot clone, but ... it has crashdown as the vampire dude, and I think it's worth watching for that alone.
