When sappy movies happen ....
I’m exhausted today. And why because I stayed up to watch parts of Dances with Wolves. Again. And again. It’s the freaking movie of the month on AMC and it’s been playing on PBS. I keep catching it when I come home at night from work and watch it.
I still get misty at the end when I watch Wind in Hair on the top of the mountain cliff, yell for all to hear that he is Dances with Wolves' friend and he will always be his friend.
I am such a sap.
But not for every sappy movie. I mean I watched GHOST and couldn’t understand why people were sobbing. The man was killed 15 minutes into the movie. Unless you thought he was going to hell, what did you think was going to happen? Go ahead...shoot Old Yeller.
But then I’ll watch …ok…I’ll admit it…Steel Magnolia’s…and every time Sally Field starts crying in the cemetery I tear up. And yes, I always stop and watch it when I come across it. Don't judge me. You know you have one movie that sets you off.
All I need for AMC to throw in Bridges of Madison County and Frequency to finish me off.
But I defy anyone to watch Fields of Dream and not tear up. Just saying you are cold-blooded bastard to not well up watching him play catch with his dad.
Funny enough, I don't own any of above on DVD.....which is weird considering how often I watch them on TV.
