I have reason for the long absence. A very sad, sad reason. My writing. All that I had planned to publish, all that I had planned to enhance, is gone. 2 years of writing. 5 books, 3 drafts, unknown poems, 50+ short stories. Completely wiped from the face of human existence. I'd blame technology, but it's my fault it was never backed up. So I sit

That is the worst news.
But don't give up. I know that isn't what you want to hear after losing a lifes work of writing. You're not useless. NEVER say that. You say you have no redeeming talents. I highly doubt that and also if you are stuck on that conclusion then you know what .. get back up and write more. You've learned a valuable lesson and I think that yuou should make use of that lesson.

Get back off your feet.
Misery will solve nothing but if you can overcome it then you could do so much.

I'm sorry if I sound at all harsh but it's just because I am so sorry for what has happened and I believe making the most out of what you got.
Feel better. Come back. Just because your writing is gone doesn't mean your talent is.
