We are one.

I've been watching the inaugeral concert with a mixture of giddyness, excitement, pride for our country, and a good deal of tears. As someone who truly believes that music brings people together in unexpected ways, it is amazing and touching to me to see such a crowd at the Lincoln Memorial, all gathered in celebration of... well, words. Lyrics, speeches, and words of wisdom from those who came before us and those who will be leading us forward.

When Garth Brooks came out singing the opening chords of American Pie, I started crying, and I felt like such a dork, but I LOVE Garth, I had no idea he was performing, and to have him give such an awesome performance that went from American Pie to Shout! to We Shall Be Free, on top of my general excitement over the upcoming Inaugeration, I was just beside myself. The music was blaring, I was dancing and singing around my living room, and despite being in a little city in Northern KY, I felt just as much a part of the Lincoln Memorial concert as everyone there in person.

That, I think, is what Obama has been able to do, and will continue to do -- make us all feel a part of the process, and all responsible for every success and failure our country endures from here on in.

We CAN make a difference in this country and in this world, and we will be so much more successful if we do it together, as one UNITED country.

Mr. President, count me in.
