I think this is my favorite movie ever.
Singin' in the Rain is on TCM tonight, and of course I have to watch it... even though I now officially own it on DVD, as of a month ago. Anyway...
We're at the one-hour mark, and it's the best 15-minute segment ever of a movie I think. Don, Cosmo, and Cathy are lamenting the failure of their first "talkie" and come up with the idea of making it into a musical... which leads into their awesome "Good Mornin'" routine... which then leads into the brilliant -- remarkably brilliant -- title number.
Gene Kelly is just amazing. Incredibly good-looking, ridiculously talented, unbelievably creative, just... the whole package. I could watch this movie over and over.
The Music Man is my favorite musical ever, but Singin' in the Rain is (in my opinion) the best musical ever.
