So I decided to be ambitious today and do some cleaning. I started with my closet, and while cleaning it, I realized it hasn't been vacuumed in forever. I grabbed my trusty vacuum cleaner, but then remembered that the last time I vacuumed my apartment, a horrid smell of burning rubber assaulted my nose -- the belt had snapped.
Knowing I would have to bite the bullet eventually and buy a new belt anyway, I flipped the vacuum over, unscrewed the cover, and confirmed that the belt had indeed snapped. Lucky for me, there was a spare belt on the back of the vacuum, along with all the little attachments. Sweet!! So I put on the new belt, fought to get the cover screwed back on correctly (which was more difficult than you would think!), and plugged it in, proud of my domestic skills. Flipped the switch, started vacuuming, and...
Burning rubber. AGAIN. WTF??
Flipped the vacuum back over, unscrewed everything, and confirmed that the NEW belt had snapped too!! WTF?!? It was new!!
So now I don't know what to do. The Dirt Devil website doesn't sell the model I have, I can't find any decent info via google (google, you've failed me too!!), and I don't know if there's something wrong with the vacuum itself that is causing the belts to snap, or if the belts just suck in general.
*shakes angry fist*
I just want a clean apartment, dammit!!!
