I really haven't taken a proper trip since June. I don't count my trips to DC, b/c it was spent with Anne, which didn't involve much exploration. I spent most of my time wandering around the city. I met up with Michael & Elaine Barrick for a couple of pints Friday. I haven't seen them since C10, (8 years ago), but with most of my internet friends, the conversations flow so easily, so natural.

We, "Gen-X"ers are so fortunate to have grown up during the infancy and evolution of the digital age, moreso than any generation that came before or after, because we both understand the technology, yet remember the world before it. We embraced the digital age, made it part of our world, without it replacing our world.

Saturday, I had an absolutely gorgeous meal at The Foundation. I ordered the "OPPP" a vegan pasta, pesto, with peanut sauce dish, topped with fresh spinach, and steamed broccoli. I really need to make this at home.

I stayed at a really dingy dive hotel called the Ivanhoe, appropriately abbreviated "The-Hoe". It's the kind of hotel that you'd see in a cop movie, the place the track some serial killer to, without serial killers ( I think). The hotel motto is "we sell sleep", true to its word, b/c they don't sell anything else. The comforter was dingy & discolored, the floor dusty, a common bath, but no towel provided and hardly any heat. It did have wifi in the lobby, and the staff was helpful and pleasant. It was 300m from the bus station and 100m from where I was going Sat. night.

Saturday, I ended up at a 15th anniversary party of a local goth night Called "sanctuary" (obviously). Met up with Michael & Elaine again, as Michael had a photo booth set up for the event. The music was pretty lousy, but the crowd was fun. The music toward the end of the night was quite good, or I may have been quite drunk, either way, it amounts to the same; I ended up dancing a lot more.

I ended the night chatting with a homeless guy named Robert for about 30 min. He had a really long grayish beard, and spoke in this Canadian accent, that seems to be of Scottish influence. I'm sure there is a name for it. I enjoy talking with homeless folks who are in their right mind, b/c they know so much about their home city and usually give a unique current history /geography lesson I can't get from the internet.

Now, I'm on the bolt bus to Seattle without a care in the world, Absorbing the majestic landscape, while VNV "Automatic" provide the soundtrack. There are moments in my life where I feel such a surge of uncontrollable euphoria, I almost feel like vomiting. I'm having one of those moments now.

So far my vacation has been beautiful and it's only been 2 days. :)
