Travel Log
Since I didn't get to go to WGT this year due to my mom's passing, I decided to take a proper vacation, well proper for me at least, but this time in the US. It just seemed to work well around the_siobhan andthe_axelshindig in vegas. A bunch of events just happened to materialize around the days of Aug 7th-15th. My confirmed Itinerary is:
Seattle Aug 7-10. It's been 10 years since I was last there.
Las Vegas Aug 10-13 for the Axel Siobhan shindig.
Oakland Aug 13-14 for the House of Usher - Reunion party , which a crapload of my old friends are going to.
Los Angeles Aug 14-15 for the Audra gig and to visit some old friends. Brett & Bart are two of my favorite people to get drunk with. Seriously fun, genuine peeps.
The airfare was pretty steep, not too bad considering it was last minute and I am doing an open, multi-leg itinerary. $968 for 5 segments, but they are all direct and the times I wanted. It's about what I would've paid to go to a coupla European cites.
What I lost on the airfare I made up on the hotel side;
So far:
Las Vegas 4 nights at the Luxor $38/night.
Seattle 3 nights at The Moore Hotel right smack in the middle of everything for $59/night.
I still need to work on LA & Oakland, but since I am only staying one night in either local, it shouldn't be difficult. I might bum a night from one of my friends, but I am on such a tight schedule it often is worth it to just be on your own time.
Google maps just makes things so much easier. I just look at the city of interest at the place of interest and scan for the little bed icon. I found the Moore Hotel this way. It is reviewed 286 times on tripadvisor.com w/an average rating of 4, but you won't find it if you use a travel site. Even trip advisor doesn't list it when you just look for hotels in Seattle.
Anyway, I hope I get to see some of you when I'm running around the west coast. :)
