I can understand being offended by the cartoon because it was published by a state publication. It would be pretty shitty of a state institution to advocate disrespect of any religious figure. Expressing this and requesting an apology is one thing, that I can respect. Violence and threats is ridiculous, and based on the cartoon, makes the situation ironic. Jeez.
Speaking of racist cartoons: the crows from Dumbo? Honestly. Hehe.
In fact the governements involved aren't advocating anything, except free speech. They apologized (to my knowledge) about the cartoons, but they also said, it's part of what free speech/freedom of the press is about and they can't control private entities.
The thing is that the muslim world is using this for their agenda.
