Patterson Joseph would make a fine Doctor but I don't know why I still believe David Morrissey is Eleven. Maybe Eleven paid the price of ten's "fake" regeneration in Journey's end and he lost his memories after Ten's "real"/"last rusty episode" regeneration...
"Murray Gold is 'discontinuing his association' with Doctor Who after the specials. (interestingly enough, the article about this has disappeared, but it's still in the scrolling text at the top of the screen)."
Hold on, you mean Murray Gold won't be part of Doctor who anymore? We won't have his amazing music anymore??? Nooooo, please, stay! We can't loose you too! It looks like it's REALLY going to be a whole new show. New actors, new producers, new music, new everything. I bet that even the Tardis' inside is going to change. (Five will be happy!)
I'd like to think that it will be Morrissey because he would provide the necessary comic pomp (as evidenced by the little clip we've seen) to Moffat's view of the Doctor. Alas, I think that Moffat wants someone sexy that he can use for his version of Doctor "James Bond" Who and Patterson Joseph does fit the bill.
It does seem very early to be announcing what is almost reading like a done deal, though. So who knows? Hold on, you mean Murray Gold won't be part of Doctor who anymore? We won't have his amazing music anymore??? Yup, we're losing Gold too. I do find it interesting that so many seem to be jumping ship with Rusty. Not to say that the ship is sinking or anything like that, but it is curious ...

You just echoed my thoughts below. And to think, I was ALMOST convinced by others that I was just being a whiny fanbrat because DT was leaving.
That's one of the good things that's come out of (a) my preference for Nine/Christopher Eccleston (although, I do love Tennant), and (b) my post of joy when it was announced that DT wasn't resigning (because I really, really didn't want him to under Moffat). It pretty much clears me of bitching about Moffat solely because of Tennant's departure.
(Now, I'm just accused of being a silly shipper. Of course.)
I don't even ship D/R but I get accused of it because I have been unhappy with some if not most of Moffat's work. Having an LJ nick with "rose" in it got people assuming also (it's for a tat I got on my back long before I started watching the new Who).
I honestly want something to be happy about and look forward to. I want a producer who "gets" the Doctor. I felt that with RTD and I definitely don't with SM. I will say that yes, Moffat can be a great writer. But the words I've heard about not altering a line of his script sets off alarm bells with me. I'm a published writer, and I do NOT get by without both betas and my awesome editor. NO writer is so good that they cannot or should not be edited.
Both RTD and DT "got" the Doctor. That's the thing...it was a fab combo. Now I feel like a bunch of surgeons have been called in to operate on a patient whom I feel (and know) to be perfectly healthy--just in need of a bit of exercise and constructive criticism.

There is so much fail in those assumptions. Let me just sit back and enjoy it for a few minutes.
*snort* *snicker* *giggle*
Wow. I know that must be annoying but you have to admit, it's pretty damn funny to watch people make a**es out of themselves in a desperate attempt to dismiss your view because you're a "shipper." Did you get your scarlet D/R out of it at least?

It does seem like Moffat is currently embracing the 'clean break' notion.
I have a very cynical and rather disturbing view about the Paterson Joseph story.
First, let me make it clear that I'm not familiar with PJ's work at all and he may be a wonderful actor who richly deserves the part. Nor do I have a problem with a black Doctor.
The problem I do have, however, is that the best of actors can only do so much to save a flawed script (see DT in the recent two-parter - he acted his little sox off but it was still dire).
And what will happen if people say the show has taken a nosedive under Moffatt? If they pick up on his sexism? Given the nature of some of the debate about Martha, I think it's clear that a very neat way to diffuse any negative comments, and silence their source, would be to cast the first black Doctor. From what I've seen of fandom, it's likely to make any reasoned discussion of the show impossible from the moment such a move is announced. In fact, the wank has already begun and there's not been an official announcement yet.

This doesn't surprise me but I will say that it's extremely opportunistic and quite low. People have been complaining about Moffat for years. To imply it has something to do with the casting of the new Doctor is asinine.
I think you're missing the point. I think Moffatt could use it as a way to defend himself against criticism, that's all. Because if anybody complains, he'd be able to say that he was cool enough to cast the first black Doctor, and that anything other than 100% approval implies racism.
And the tone of your response does, perhaps, prove my point to some extent - that the minute you mention race, regardless of the qualifications you make, people become so angry with you that debate becomes extremely difficult.
I bet that even the Tardis' inside is going to change.
I have read somewhere that yes, it probably will; though it seems to have to do with Who being filmed in HD in the future, which means they'll have to refurbish a number of things on the set because they wouldn't work with HD standards. Or something.

I've had this moniker forever. Well, not forever--but a really long time. Longer than 2005, that's for damned certain.
But yes...epic fail. All aboard the fail train! *WOOOOOOOT*

What like a femur? Sure. Yep. I can see that.
