Monday started a bit early. I woke up earlier then most, but that's pretty standard when I'm sleeping in places I'm not quite used to. It's funny, throughout my life when I am with other people, I tend to sleep later then they do. This has never been the case with Olivia. I almost always get up before she does.
Anyway, after a bit of reorientation the alarm went off, and Irene got up. She unfortunately still had to work this week. She went to start getting ready to start her day, while I lay there unmoving, not quite wanting to admit I needed to get up. However when she came in, and assuming I was sleeping, started to change I quickly threw a pillow over my head.
This is something you just have to do, when your sleeping in the same room as two women.
Liv started rolling out of bed at this point, planning on making Irene breakfast. So I figured it was pretty much time to start the day. Groggily we all moved to the kitchen, while Irene ate the breakfast sandwich that Liv made her, and packed up some of the protein bars I had brought her. Liv then checked over Irene's outfit to make sure it was suitable, gave her a kiss and sent her on her way.
Once Irene closed the door behind her I could hold it in no more and busted out laughing.
Liv had become quite blissful in her newly acquired housewife role. She had an almost dreamy expression as she fulfilled her self appointed responsibilities. It was incredibly cute and I just had to give her another huge hug.
Then she started to work on something for us to eat. We sat, eating a bit, sitting in her kitchen in our shorts and t-shirts chilaxing with the fan. It was then when Liv noted what we were both thinking, that this was great. It was hard to imagine how relatively few days we had been together in person. Despite the less then 4 weeks we have actually spent in each others physical company, we were perfectly comfortable with each other. Laughing like normal, and just enjoying each others presence. She said she couldn't believe that she was sitting in her kitchen eating breakfast with her best friend.
I think it was at this point where I realized for the first time that this was really what I had wanted.
I have been considering moving to Singapore for a good while. Looked into it a number of times, and made attempts to find something. It was more of a 'it would be nice' thing with no real goals or solidarity. Now I realized that this was what I really wanted. Simple moments like this were just to few in my life. The sacrifices that would come with the transition would be worth it to have this for a few years.
This day was designated for trying to plan out the rest of my trip. We had some rough idea's of what we wanted to do, but nothing really set in stone. One thing was for sure though, we needed to find out what Kewei's availability was. So we sent her a quick text message. To which she replied that she was free that night.
Liv though, had plans for me tonight, and so we made plans to meet up with Kewei and Najib the next evening.
Next we solidified where we wanted to go. We knew we needed to hit up Hong Kong. We had plans to meet up with Jac near the end of my trip. We also decided we wanted to check out Kuala Lumpor, since I hadn't seen it last time. Then upon suggestion from IreneK we decided we'd also spend a few days in Macau, another Chinese quasi-nation near Hong Kong.
Once we decided what we were going to do, planning the dates and the travel was a bit more complicated and more of a work in progress.
Then since we had been up quite late the night before, we decided to take a quick nap.
Olivia did indeed have plans. Her recently acquired group of friends were having a simple social outing. Mostly just to hang out, and eat something called "Clay Pot Rice". We got dressed, and set out to meet Irene there.
Apparently though, we walked into some Lesbian Drama. With a capital L and D. Throughout the time I was there, I think Olivia and Irene were moderators in no less then 5 issues of Drama. They both pointed out that this is becoming more and more regular, and I just laughed at how Liv falls into the same position no matter what sort of group she is with.
I won't really go into the story. Tisn't my story and I don't really know it all, but there was a rift between one of the more prominent couples. The groups of consolers sat apart from each other, trying to help their friends out. Throughout this, we did what Liv's primary object was. To help me put faces to names I had heard. Also to prove to her friends that she did in fact have a fat white best friend from America visiting.
I mostly listened to what was going on around me, and tried to read the people I was talking with as Liv and Irene worked towards putting out the fires.
Eventually though, dinner was done, and it was time to move on. A few of Liv's closer friends decided to meet up with us, and go to a Karaoke place. I'll not make an attempt at remembering their names, though I'd recognize them if mentioned. I think we spent two or three hours there. I even sang a few times, much to my horror, goaded into it by Olivia.
I ended up singing "Everything I Do (I do for you)" by Bryan Addams, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen, "I'd Do Anything for Love (but i won't do that)" by Meatloaf, and "Hold My Hand" by Hootie and the Blowfish.
I wish I could say I knew/understood/recognized most of the other songs sang. But that'd be a lie. Singapore Karaoke, being the multicultural country that it is, is pretty safe to say that it's very rare for someone to understand ALL the languages of songs offered. I mostly took the opportunity to watch Irene and Olivia together, and to try to pay attention to the other conversations going on around me.
Two fruity non-alcoholic drinks, and some fruit later, it was time to go.
Irene had to get to bed, since she still had to work the ne xt day. Liv and I stayed up talking, and doing various internet things. I think it may also have been this point where I introduced her to Puzzle Quest. The last time I had visited Monopoly dominated much of our free/leisure time. This time it was Puzzle Quest. After letting her play on my psp, and teacher her the ropes, she was instantly hooked and made plans to acquire it for her DS.
For all I know.. she's playing it still...
