Praise plus Rant

I finally finished reading Neuromancer. That was an awesome book. Fucking AMAZING Science Fiction. Apparently it started the "cyberpunk" genre. It was so creative, so intricate, and just all around awesome that I could have seen it written a few years ago. The book is a year older than I am. Seriously, it was one of the most complex and interesting Science Fiction books I've read. All the others seem ridiculously cheesy compared to this one. I've gotta read more of the stuff this William Gibson has written.

The ending was pretty good, which speaks volumes. I don't think I've ever read an awesome ending. They're so easy to botch, so a good ending in comparison is a great ending. Even in movies people fuck up the endings. They're the most important part and no one gets it right. Well I suppose the climax is equally important, and there are lots of people who are really adept with them, but I want to see more perfect endings, god dammit! As far as movies go, I've only seen one ending that can be counted as amazing and probably less than 5 that were good. Oh well, if I ever wrote a novel or a screenplay I'm sure I'd fuck up the ending too. Doesn't excuse it though.
