Unfortunately, this dances on the tripwire of spoiling things... unless you've already read the graphic novel itself. It also lacks the Smashing Pumpkins backing of the first mass-issued teaser from last year. (Figure # 7
here.) But it's well done.

But that all said, it's awfully hard to keep expectations low with all the attention to detail Snyder has doled out. I can, at least, keep it level with what I've seen. That man has paid absolutely slavish attention to details. He certainly couldn't fit everything in the film, any more than he could adapt a work like that to film. But to look at every single tiny film prop he had made... it's impressive. He's a passionate director.
Anyway, it's the soymilk vs. cow milk complex. Let each thing just be what it is, and appreciate it for just what it is.

But yeah, the only reason I ever had any hope that it would be good was Snyder. I loved 300 and if Watchmen is as good, I'll love it, too, even if it is quite different. I'm not necessarily expecting a slavish adherence to the material, just getting the atmosphere right and so far that seems to have happened.

Well, see, the slavish attention to detail is how you know the film is in the capable hands of someone who genuinely cares. Snyder is actually a fan of the novel, and is mostly concerned with keeping its original fanbase happy. Most directors in charge of film adaptations of various fandoms start out from a viewpoint where they look down on the source material. *cough*Bryan Singer*cough*and*cough*Michael Bay*cough*. Yes, we can argue he's still working for someone else who is in charge. But I like what I've seen so far.
