Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation
Happy Georgia Day to all Georgia-dwelling folk. Well, for the last 57 minutes of it anyway. It's more than a little hilarious when you can live in a state for years and be totally unaware that there is a day celebrating the founding of that state. Certainly nobody I know has ever taken this as an excuse to get wasted. I, for one, shall start right now.
The fact that Georgia's state motto is "Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation" absolutely kills me. Wisdom, in a state that counts Saxby Chambliss as a senator?! Justice, where Sonny Perdue is governor? Moderation, in the state where reported cases of HIV-positive people is second only to New York state. Oh, wait, they must be talking about those blue laws that prohibit all alcohol sales from midnight on Sunday to about 08:00 on Monday morning. The reasoning behind it being that Sunday alcohol sales up the death toll. Despite the fact that people go out to restaurants to get fucked up on Sunday, and then drive whilst under the influence. Ah, Georgia politics...
