You all may have noticed that I haven’t been around very much today. We went out to our video vender to edit our videos (we have 5 minutes to cut in one of them--oy). Because of this, I won’t be able to make my rounds. I apologize for all the interesting things
you will say today that I will miss.
Geek Update:
Buffy Trivia:
I finished the questions for Set 5. I’m quite excited about this set. I think you’ll find it both challenging and fun.
I grabbed some caps to make the winners icons. I figure I’ve got 2 weeks to figure out PhotoShop. I promise to have winners icons that are pretty, even if I have to tie The Amysomeone to a chair and make them do it for me.
SG-1
I’m hiding spoilers for the SG-1 Season 7 episode “Grace” at the bottom with a cut. There will be plenty of warnings before I get there, so until then read on.
Last night I watched “Solitudes” and “Tin Man” while I worked. The rest of the night I kept saying that things were “better.”
Last night, I obviously also watched the Season 7 episode “Grace.” These are my comments that do not contain spoilers-
This was an excellent episode. It reminded me very much of Firefly’s “Out of Gas (which may be my favorite Firefly--ask The Amy) and Buffy’s “The Body” and “Hush.” There was a terrific use of sound and space and the character’s thoughts and perceptions. Man. Anything that makes me think of all three of those episodes must be spectacular. I’m going to watch that episode again when I have the chance.
SPOILERS COMING UP
Last chance to avoid spoilers...
I was so glad to see them finally deal with the Sam/Jack romance. And what a lovely way to do it. The story is about Carter being the only survivor--alone--and then we move out of the metaphor and actually address Carter as being alone in romance. And that she could finally articulate that being in love with Jack was so she wouldn’t get hurt romantically elsewhere... Yeah, I was in love with this. It also explained to me why she didn’t get involved with the guys who were obviously nuts about her (not to mention H-O-T).
Also, all the big empty spaces spoke such volumes. Sam’s not alone just romantically--she's always been the only girl. And she’s both a warrior and an intellectual so she can fit in with both Jack/Teal’c and Daniel, but they don’t understand how she can be both. And, hell, let’s face it, even Carter sometimes has trouble relating to Daniel’s curiosity/passion.
And the little girl--we think it’s Sam, right? That’s what I got, anyway. Sam has trouble relating to herself. She couldn’t even recognize herself as a little girl (that was a bit odd). Sam had a much easier time relating to Jack and Jacob. That was interesting.
I really, really, really liked this episode. Someone, discuss it with me!! I’m sure there’s way more insightful things I’ll see upon a second viewing.
