as every man (and his dog) seems to be either exalting or damning this new-fangled pandora.com gizmo, i thought i'd see what all the fuss is about. having already sampled (briefly) the delights of last.fm, it doesn't really seem all that fantastic at first glance. granted, it doesn't require downloading (!) but it's patronising interface (hey! that wasn't what i wanted!) is frankly, a bit too american much.
so, asking for nine inch nails-esque music brings you, amongst others, ministry (yes), rob zombie (good, but NIN? really?), ohgr (maybe), kmfdm (ok), primal scream (eh?) and a song called hypochristian by some obscure band. so, not much of a musical revelation hidden amongst those vaguely related artists. surely there's more joy in tramping around swordfish records for something you've not yet discovered, as opposed to 'discovering' stock artists that even the most uninitiated 'just-joined-rocksoc' fresher could identify?
on a totally unrelated note, pete burns (from dead or alive - 'you spin me round' fame) has now joined my all time top 5 things you would NOT like to come across (haha) on the way to the toilet at 4am.
i'm starting work tomorrow in king's heath, apparently centro can wait, but i'm thinking i'll stay a week and see how the travelling to & from goes. it's easier for me to get into town than to go all the way through moseley and then king's heath. pfft. £7.50 an hour though, so it's at least worth considering for a few weeks. i have so little money it makes me cry inside. but only a little.
