I saw a trailer for "Stardust" today.
I'm reserving judgement until I see the movie, but I have to admit to a little quaking doubt in my heart.
I love Neil Gaiman's work. I'll read anything he's had a hand in, good or bad. However, "Stardust" does rank up there among my favourite of his works. I have the comic books he did with Charles Vess and the novelization of said comic books. I have been hungrily following the progress of this movie version.
I know that there are going to be changes. The inclusion of a character named Captain Shakespeare--played by Robert De Niro--was something I've known about. But they've evidently greatly changed the lightning catching ship scenes to fit this character. Not a terribly important part of the book, but that's just the beginning. There are also scenes of Tristran(or just Tristan, for the movie) and the witch facing off in a castle.
I know Neil was involved in the script writing... so maybe it will all be okay....
