I assure you, Professor, I am adequately --

[The realization he is no longer within Hogwarts does not take long. Instead, it is the influx of memories which gives him pause; he has been here before.] -- prepared.

And here I was beginning to think you were gone for good.

It seems this place has grown an affinity for me. I doubt it would let me be even if I wanted it to.

How terribly difficult, to be so beloved. Quite helpful none the less.

Yes, indeed. I'm curious, Gellert, how long has it been since I've been here last?

So I might have brought him out a little early... flight_ofdeath August 25 2010, 08:27:53 UTC
Hello, Narcissa.

I squeed out loud in the call centre and got funny looks. You owe me. <3 sweetcissy August 25 2010, 08:31:06 UTC
...you got taller.

Heeee. ♥ What would you like? flight_ofdeath August 25 2010, 09:28:29 UTC
Indeed. I would say you've gotten shorter, but something tells me I've made an unusual error in judgement. [Don't mind his serious!face. He's joking, really. Also, icon keywords.]

Merlin, it's about time adequate company showed up.

Walburga, it's been a while. [For him, at least, and he assumes her as well (her complaint certainly makes him think so).] How long have you been here?

Too bloody long on both counts. Honestly, the people that are allowed out of their homes....

It's a disappointment, really.

[Oh, how he's glad he has Slytherin mates to be snobby with.]

Truly. The potential of a such a place is wasted on the majority of whom are brought here. Of course, there are a number of exceptions, for which I am grateful. I merely would prefer the exception to instead be the norm.

Haha, derrrp. I forget fonts in my excitement? IDK. ghostly_bird August 25 2010, 08:33:54 UTC
[Tom isn't the only one taking pause. It may have been some time since they'd had their last run-in, but not so long that the incident wasn't still present, in some form, in Albus' mind.

Well. This wasn't an awkward chance meeting at all. The present day's irony wasn't entirely lost on him either; it seemed if the Universe had something to say, it was damnably determined that Albus was paying attention.]

It's been a while, Tom.

[HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALBUS.

This is certainly... awkward. Although as a rule Tom Riddle does not do awkward, and he will certainly not allow this situation to become more so. Instead, his intent will be to quell it, as he is confident and decisive, and therefore there is no need for any sort of awkward. In the past, he has not attempted to charm the Albus Dumbledore of his world due to how much Tom had foolishly let him know when they had first met. Now, he is in a similar situation with Albus, except this particular mirror he had been successful in charming before, and with whom Tom is on a much more even playing field. Tom has never been exceptionally brave, but in this instance he is not going to run away, for Albus is not just another mudblood or classmate or even his Transfiguration Professor from home. In this Room where Tom may stay here for months regardless of consent, he cannot hope to avoid one of the few respectable (foolish, maybe, but respectable nonetheless) wizards here, nor does he have all that much want to ( ... )

BB, you are my hero. ghostly_bird August 25 2010, 09:13:56 UTC
[He saw that.

Luckily, Albus hasn't ever been the sort to act rashly, and as foolish as it may be, his idealistic view of "second chances" often extends far beyond the literal definition of "second transgressions", though this has hardly reached said level. He's ready to play it safe, of course; he's not quite blind enough to offer automatic forgiveness. But he's not ready to automatically condemn, either.

So, this leaves Albus at a sort of cautionary stalemate, though one he's willing to work past. Pretending nothing had happened would be nothing short of impossible, but there's no reason to continue this awkward unease. Right?]

It's been treating you well, I hope. [And the whole underlying speech on "maturity", or growing and learning from mistakes is there somewhere. But he knows enough to let it remain unsaid.]

And you are my villain. ♥ I mean, wait, what. flight_ofdeath August 26 2010, 02:40:46 UTC
[Does he like his present?

Tom is willing to establish a sort of benevolent truce between them, as he has had no desire for violence against Albus since the "incident". Of course, there is the slight problem of his revenge on Gellert and Albus's obvious connection to the boy. Thus, potential use for retribution, but at the moment he's going to focus on the situation at hand.

Tom is not arrogant enough to expect automatic forgiveness. He is not quite that out of touch with reality not yet, at least. However, he is also not one to accept the full responsibility of his actions, and thus believes any sort of retribution will be of little consequence (from Albus himself, at least, as he has already been proven wrong in the all-together). Tom knows things would be simpler, easier if the Room had allowed him to kill Albus, but he's no longer certain that the simpler path would be the best. After all, there must be a reason why he is unable to kill in this place. He may as well investigate.]

Quite. And yourself? How are things for you?

And the most qualified student for the position. Of course, I doubt Professor Slughorn thinks me anything less than perfect for it, and yet he continues to go through the motions, so to speak, of casual conversation. The majority of which is increasingly superfluous.
