Leon sighed as he looked over the paperwork once more. It was too late at night to be working on this, in all honesty, and too much was on his mind. He knew this wasn't going to turn out as good as he would prefer, but he needed to finish ( Read more... )

This was a dream.

It had to be. That was the only explanation. Nearly a decade after that incident, Claire still had nightmares from time to time, many of which had stuck her back in Raccoon City, specifically the police station. So this was really no surprise ( ... )

Leon looked over at the call, seeing the familiar face. This...had to be a dream. He'd overworked himself and and just fallen asleep. It had to be.

But...this...

"...Claire..?" He called, still holding his coffee cup and notes, looking completely out of place here in his casual wear.

Claire didn't notice. She hesitated, lingering where she was; if this was a dream, there was a chance approaching could just trigger the awful scene where he turned into one of the undead and attacked her -- she'd had several like it, mostly of Steve -- but after a moment she figured screw it, she'd rather get it over with and wake up, anyway.

But as she half-jogged over, reality was cementing itself as more and more present. "Leon--" She glanced around, stopping a few feet before him. "...Where is this?" she tried, again hoping that she was, by some chance, imagining the unsettling similarity of the place.

He swallowed thickly before looking around again. "....I....I'm not sure....but I certainly hope it's not where I think it is..." he looked at her and breathing deeply. "I was in my office and then....I ended up here somehow...I don't know what happened....I honestly suspect I fell asleep writing my report. That's the only thing that makes sense."

She nodded, but distractedly. The last thing she remembered was dropping onto her couch after coming home late -- she was sure she'd fallen asleep, and then...

"Is there anyone else around?" she asked, trying to stay focused, as she glanced back up and down the hall.

"I haven't seen anyone yet...besides you, of course." He replied, moving to set his coffee down as he doubted it was of any use right now, and neither was his notes.

Claire tried a small laugh, but it came out forced. "I guess it's too much to hope we're both dreaming the same dream, huh?"

She glanced over her shoulder, taking a small sidestep that opened her view to the rest of the hall stretching out behind Leon. There was a familiar tension in the air; she didn't like her visibility being restricted.

Leon reached for one of his concealed firearms to be prepared. "Do you need a gun, Claire?" he asked, grabbing another to hand to her. After all the things he'd gone through and, now, with all of his importance being employed directly to the president, he always remained cautious and kept two or three guns on him at all times while awake and kept several around while asleep.

Claire hesitated, but then finally nodded and accepted the weapon. Better safe than sorry, and it wasn't like it could hurt. She ejected the magazine to check it before clipping it back into the gun and looking up at him. "Which way's the exit?" she asked, clicking off the safety.

He looked thoughtful for a moment. "If I remember correctly, it's this way." He replied, heading to the right. He certainly hoped he was remembering correctly.

"Right." She hung just a little ways behind him, enough that she could watch the rear while she trusted him to the front. After a few seconds, she thought she heard something like a car alarm in the distance, but it quickly faded.

"...Glad to see you haven't quit your day job," she murmured, glancing at the gun in her hand. She just hoped she didn't have to actually use it. Hell, she'd once hoped she'd never have to use one in her life again, period -- but the chance meeting at the airport months ago had apparently just been the beginning of another chain of freak occurrences.

"This job pays really damn well, don't see me quitting anytime soon." He replied, peeking around a corner before running down the next hallway.

((My fee is good. Damn good.))

She followed at a quick trot, having to speed to a near jog to keep up with him. "Heh. Sure you haven't just become an adrenaline junkie since Raccoon?"

He chuckled. "I've always been an adrenaline junkie, Claire...I just try to put it to good use." He suddenly stilled as he thought he heard a noise.

((And don't pull that too much or he'll just have to go 'diving' again just to spite her))

Claire stopped in the same second. "You hear that?" she whispered, but didn't wait for his answer before slipping over to one of the boarded windows and listening. It sounded like... shuffling. Close by. One of many sounds she'd never forget if she lived a hundred years. She shot Leon a look -- partly is it just me and partly alarmed, although she did her best to hide the latter.

[.....She's telling Chris. >\]

((I'm sure Chris will enjoy hearing that a guy is leaving his sister alone in such ways ;P))

He grit his teeth. "Let's hurry. We gotta get to a more open space so we don't get backed up into a corner." he continued down the hallway quickly, yet carefully, watching for any sign of the infected.
