Because..
I am watching All Creatures Great and Small (on DVD) because it is proof of balance and the enduring cycles of nature pressing on in the world. I am doing research on Japanese tea ceremonies and food preparation because the women are making variations on recipes made for hundreds of years. I am breathing in slow change that comes with the seasons, because it is what I've agreed to take.
Yesterday was a challenge, framed by the beauty of western Maryland - long story, but suffice to say I was covered in toxic waste, sweat, coffee, and ill-placed nose jewelry by the time all was said and done. I don't think I'm going to work in Washington County (sorry, MVB) - the reason is not the drive, change of scenery, crappy schedule, etc - those things factor in, but rather, I believe it can be summed up in something the second (and less dick-ish) principal said to me - "We want to make a situation where it's impossible for you to fail."
Ahh!! Creeepy! And then they give you the special kool-aid!
