it's aliiiive.
Hopefully sometime in the not-too-distant future I'll be able to start an update with something that is not an apology but it is unlikely to be soon. Short explanation for my absence: Computer's still broken, was super sick last week (all better now), visited my sister for the weekend and had lots of work this week! I've been coming to the lab to check my emails but haven't really had time to sit and be one with LJ as per usual.
I have caught up with everyone's journals today, just not communities. After Tuesday my workload will lessen (for a week, anyway) so I'm going to do that then (hopefully I won't have been booted out of all my LIMS by then :P).
What's been going on in the world of me:
I'm shockingly not all aghast at my severe lack of TV. I do definitely miss it, but with nothing else to do (when I haven't been too sick or too busy) I've been surprisingly more social the last few weeks, which has been fun. (Who knew.) One thing that I have seen Mad Men season one last weekend (as my sister has the DVD) and it was amazing! - I don't even really know how to explain why I like it so much when a lot of the characters are really quite horrible in a way. My favourites:
+ Betty, but I couldn't tell you why. She's so messed up and sometimes just like a child but kind of...haunting.
+ Joan, who just kicks ass.
+ Roger Sterling. I was predisposed to like him from having a big crush on John Slattery. The man may be over 50 but I think he is SO attractive (*crushes*) and has been pretty damn awesome on the show.
+ The guy with glasses. I feel bad since I don't remember his name, but you know which one I mean. He's lovely.
People that confuse me:
+ Don! Although I totally understand why all the people who love him do (seeing only those certain sides of him).
+ Pete. He's such a sleaze and a slimeball but he's so...earnest. It's weird Like when Peggy asks him if he ever thinks about her and Pete's like "A few times." I totally LOL'd at that, but at the same time it's so Pete (and it's so Peggy, at the time, to be pleased by it). I don't know.
I was so surprised by the ending of season one with Peggy's baby though. Did not see that one coming! I can't wait to catch up and see season two (just have to find a way + the time to do so)!
I have a bit more to say - mostly about the films I've seen recently - but the computer lab is way too cold and I'm a bit hungry so I'll leave that till next time. - Hopefully tomorrow!
