Sean Astin dream

Jul 20, 2007 08:22

I dreamed that my parents met Sean Astin. They spent time with him and his wife--who was pregnant. They said they were very nice and they had a good time with them. They told me that Sean Astin's wife was pregnant and wore a tube top. They teased her about it ( Read more... )

Maybe each knows a different side of us. Or rather, a part of us. How many people know the "total" us?

I do think communicating in LJ shows people a lot more of who we are. Some of us anyway (who write a lot here and share more).

When I first got online I thought it was the best thing in the world because people got to know each other without seeing one another and by actually having to 'talk' to each other. Back then people rarely had digital photos to share, and certainly no web cams. It was strictly writing to one another.

Of course, that also meant if the person chose to pretend to be someone they were not, or chose to only show a tiny part of themselves. That was difficult. There are some crazy people out there.

But all in all, the people I have met here have been great. And I would say you know me better than most people I see day to day (coworkers such). And you know me in a deeper way and/or different part of me than my family and friends, except for my very closest friends. That's one reason I invited Husband to Live Journal. To help us both know each other a little more deeply.

I share too much here, I think. But I think I have a need just to say certain things, with the hope that someone will really hear them. I love the way you put that, two people talking and no one really listening.

I think you got it exactly in your last paragraph--revealing a lot in the hopes that someone out there will read and understand.

I think the great thing about the Internet is you can find people just like you.

In the "real" world I'm a total freak.

On the Internet, I'm pretty damn normal. At least with the crowd I hang out with!

I agree, that is the single best thing about the internet. You realize there ARE other people like you and you're not so crazy after all! It really does help.

Did you finish the book??

Yeah,

I finished the book! Thanks for asking. I finished it much sooner than I thought. I thought it would take me 3-4 days. But I finished it in less than one.

It was VERY good.

You are a fast reader!!

What are you reading next?

How do you decide what biographies you read? Do you pick people you know and like, or people you don't know anything about, or people who just seem interesting? Or all of the above? :)

I was just curious, when reading the Ellen Burstyn. She's someone I know nothing about and probably wouldn't not have ever thought to read her book if you hadn't recommended it. Now I love her and want to see all her movies.

I don't know how I pick them.

I only read autobiographies so that limits me a lot.

I think I just go through and when I see an autobiography, I pick it up. Or not. I'm not sure why I pick some up and some I don't.

At first, I was really into actors so I picked up almost every one of those. Now I'm getting a little burned out....so I'm more picky with actors.

But with most of the actors, I haven't seen much of their work. With Ellen Burstyn, all I've seen is the Exorcist. Oh and some TV movie about suicide.

I think I just pick whatever. I start reading it. Usually, I continue. But sometimes I am bored or feel no connection so I quit.
