Michael threw himself into a panic attack, he clinged onto Jason for dear life; sighing, Jason and pulled him out of the car, carrying him to the front door. He sighed as Michael clutched onto him, Jason knew he wouldn’t let him put him down.

“We’ll watch a film yeah? Fix you up some hot chocolate.” He pottered around his kitchen, his arms full of Michael. Every so often he kissed his forehead as he made them drinks and something to eat.

“I’m not going to. We - I’ll phone Ned, yeah? He can... We’ll find a small bar and we’ll play there, okay? Say it came up last minute or that Ned forgot to tell us, okay?” Michael shook his head.

“He’ll know. He always knows. Make it stop.” Jason kissed his forehead as he sat down, handing the mug to Michael. Michael was shaking as he took it; Jason placed it on the table for him and held him tight, pushing the sandwich closer to him. Michael shook his head violently.

“It’s - no.” Michael buried his head into his shoulder, shaking his head.

“Take a little bite. Just for me?” Jason pulled a little bit off and held it to Michael’s lips. Michael pushed it away and looked at him.

“I can’t. Not going to. Don’t make me go back. Please.”

“Calm down, Mikey. You go sit in the TV room and I’m going to phone Ned, sort something out.”

“He hates me. He - what I do. I can’t go tonight. Can’t go back.” Michael mutters over and over, Jason took him into the TV room and kisses his forehead.

“I’m going to be ten minutes okay?” Michael shook his head and held onto Jason’s neck tighter. “Michael, I need to pee and I’m not taking you in there with me.” Jason chuckled and let go of his back, Michael looked at him, fear in his eyes.

“Lock the door? The front door... Please. I don’t want anyone getting in. They can’t get in - they can’t come and get me.”

“Michael they won’t get you. No one can come in. I promise you.” Michael lets go of him slowly, “I’ll lock the door though, okay?” Michael nods, biting his lip. Jason strokes his face and walks out towards the front door, locking it. He grabs his phone and dials Ned’s number.

“Hey... Can you do me a favour?” Jason busied himself upstairs as he spoke to their manager. “Michael - can we get a small gig tonight. Can you try and find something? Far away... A few hours, somewhere that we can’t get back here tonight... Please, Ned. Find something for us? It’s important... I can’t say; it just is. I swear... I’d tell you if it was... Thank you; you’re a gem... Yeah,” Jason chuckles. “I’ll buy ya a drink if you do and you get down there with us.” Jason and Ned exchanged their goodbyes and he hung up, making his way back down the stairs, he walked into the TV room. Michael was bundled up in a ball on the sofa.

“Hey; you and I are going out of state tonight. Got a little venue that was called up last minute, hope that’s okay? We’ll get your mind off everything and have a good night, okay?” Michael looked up at him and nodded, chewing his lip.

“Thank you.”

“Do you want to talk to me?” Michael shook his head. Smiling, Jason turned the TV on and found a movie; he pulled Michael into his arms and watched the young boy fall asleep.

---

Jason kissed him softly, shaking his small frame softly. The younger boy woke up with a start, falling back into Jason’s arms.

“Come on lil man, we’re going for a drive. Got your guitar in the car and we’re driving back late so you can crash here. Ned’s sorted it all out.” Michael opens his eyes and frowns.

“Really?” Jason nodded, Michael smiled softly, wrapping his arms around Jason. “Thank you.”

“Don’t thank me. Come on. Let’s get you showered and kick ass, yeah?” Jason grins and leads Michael to the bathroom before pottering around and getting ready for tonight.

---

Alex’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the news that Michael was coming back to his home town to play a gig tonight - a free gig. He got up from his desk and ran down to his mom, grinning goofily as he did.

“Mom, can I go out tonight? There’s a gig I want to go to, please?” His mom raised an eyebrow, wiping his sisters face with her bib.

“You know me and your father are going out tonight.” Alex’s face fell to the ground hard.

“Yeah... Course you are. I forgot. Sorry.” He sighed and walked up the stairs slowly, dragging his feet as he did.

As soon as he was safe inside his room, he kicked his bed and sat down beside it. He grabbed his iPod from behind him and scrolled through to find Michael’s first album; he listened to it and wondered what it would have been like to go to the gig tonight - it was a local bar - a haunt that everyone his age hang around. He sighed, he’d do anything to see him tonight. Twice in a fortnight, he should be so lucky. Alex thought, he could take his sister up there with him, she’d be asleep but the music would wake her. He groaned and went back to his desk and started ranting on his blog. He knew it wasn’t his parents fault. They always went to the church meeting on a Thursday night and Alex was their babysitter. It wasn’t like he had anything else to do.

The soft knock on his door indicated that his parents were off out. He groaned, turned his computer off and went downstairs for the last half an hour that his sister should be awake. He knew the drill, put her to bed and stay in the family room so he could hear her. They’d be back at nine.

Alex pulled his sister into his arms and grinned, rocking her back and forth and playing with her. He wanted to get her off quickly tonight - before her bedtime so he could try and watch CSI before they get in. He had the boxsets but the only TV they had was in the family room and his parents never allowed him to watch things like that with anyone else around.

Ten minutes into his rocking and humming, his sister fell asleep in his arms. He grinned, changing her and putting her to bed. He turned on the ending of series five and got comfortable - trying to forget about what he could be doing instead.

He watched the double bill finale and put on an episode from season eight; one of his favourites and waited for them to get back so he could retire to his bedroom and wonder once more what it would have been like to have seen Michael perform live once more.

---

Michael and Jason both thought the night was well turned out; there wasn’t too much of a crowd and he didn’t mind that. Michael liked the more intimate gigs. His set finished at nine, they were out of there by ten. Jason and Ned both had a small beer before they headed out. Michael sat in the car, waiting for them to finish a conversation they were having, sat on the bonnet of the car.

“Jay; why tonight? I mean, I’ve seen his old man. He’s not the funniest of guys, but why did you want him away tonight?” Jason sighed and looked at Ned, biting his lip.

“He was petrified earlier,” his voice quiet, “He’s all marked up. Really bad. He really didn’t want to go home.” Ned nodded and looked at Michael.

“The poor kid looks exhausted. Maybe we should grab a hotel.” Ned suggested, his eyes trained on the young frame.

“Maybe, is there any room at the inn?” Jason watched him too, Michael was reading a letter over and over again. He smiled.

“I’ll phone around, it’s only a small town. Meet me back here in half an hour? Take him for a walk or a drive?” Jason smiled and nodded. “Thanks. I’ll text you if something else comes up. Need to speak to his mom as well. Don’t want him to hear.” Jason nodded and slid off his car. He climbed in and looked at Michael, smiling softly.

“Walkies?” Michael sighed and shook his head.

“Comfy here. Don’t know the way around.”

“We can go for a drive?” Michael looked at him and shrugged.

“It’s up to you, Jasey.” Jason looked up to see Ned standing and walking back over to the bar, he rolled his eyes.

“Let’s go for a drive then, yeah?” Michael smiled, waiting for the older man to get in the car. They drove around for ten minutes before Michael jumped in his seat.

“Do a left here.” Jason followed the teen’s instructions and turned left. “Let me out of the car, please?” Jason pulled to a halt and Michael climbed out. Confused, Michael watched him for a few seconds before turning the engine off and waiting.

---

Alex heard the knock on the door and sighed. No one ever came this late. Who would? Unless his parents had invited someone over for a drink or two, but no one would be here this late. He kicked his socks off and pulled his jeans down, finding a pair of pyjama bottoms and pulling them up.

“Alex! A friend is here to see you. I’m sending him up.” Alex frowned, he had no friends. Why would someone bother to come to his house and attack him there? It wasn’t like anyone really knew where he lived either. He sighed as his door open, he didn’t bother turning around.

“Great. So I’m not even safe in my own home. Whatever you want or want to do with me, please get it over and done with.” There was a confused sound coming from behind him.

“I wanted to talk... You are Alex Noyes, right?” Alex turned around slowly, his legs going to jelly as he saw him.
