California Proposition 91

Feb 08, 2008 02:01

For those that don't know, California had a Proposition on the ballot that originally had meaning, but was eventually rendered obsolete. As such, the supports wrote "DO NOT VOTE FOR PROPOSITION 91" in the "For" column of the For/Against statements. The Against was clearly blank.

For additional details, read the following:

Basically, this Proposition turned from something to do with tax allocations to a poll on the stupidity of Californians. Anyone who voted "Yes" was obviously a moron. ;-) So let's look at the results:

"Proposition 91 was crafted to restrict the use of gas taxes to ensure funding for statewide transportation projects. However, it was later abandoned by its proponents who said it was no longer needed.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, here are the results of Prop 91:

Prop 91/Transportation Funding
YES: 45.97 percent
NO: 54.03 percent"

So, a proposition where the supporters said not to vote for it received almost 46% of the vote... almost passing.

I love this country.
