This is a must read. It is a short synopsis on the difference between eastern and western mentalities and it succinctly states why I'm interested in eastern philosophy.
In a not-so-succinct way, I will state now this: I am the western model. And I recognise its flaws (and strengths). In this lifetime, I am interested in seeing things from as many angles as possible. This is my motivation for living overseas, for learning languages, and for understanding chemistry and physics. I find those who think in absolutes tend to be unevolved and brutish; arrogant, yet pathetic. As I age, I become more fluid in my ideas and self-image, but more sure of myself. Being unbounded by the self is really interesting to me.
