Position Summary:
The Infrastructure Manager directs and coordinates the work of the corporate system administration group. This includes responsibility for the performance and resiliency of the Powell's network infrastructure. The network includes approximately 100 onsite servers, more than 500 computers, and 9 locations connected by a wide area network. Servers are predominantly Windows based, with a SAN, MS Sql Server databases, and virtualization all in the mix. This position is responsible for ensuring that best practices in system administration are strategized, documented, and implemented. Establishes infrastructure technology roadmap for Powell's. Assists the Business Technology Manager and Computer User Support Manager in leading the computer support departments to the highest levels of performance. Reports to Business Technology Manager.
Essential Functions:
o Leads Systems Administration group in capacity, resiliency, and recovery planning, implementation, and management, including systems, network, and storage.
o Assigns and directs project work of the department; includes aligning work with corporate and departmental goals, prioritizing projects, and monitoring workflow.
o Ensures that customer support, troubleshooting, and projects are delivered in a timely and coordinated fashion.
o Manages or supervises management of infrastructure related technical projects. Project management includes planning, scheduling, prioritizing, and monitoring.
o Hands on administration and support as needed.
o Responsible for computer supplies and support budgets, as well as infrastructure specific capital items.
o Responsible for infrastructure policy and procedure development, including change management, risk assessment, and user support and management.
o Maintains current working knowledge of existing and emerging trends in networking/computer hardware and software.
o Selects and hires personnel for the department; determines and coordinates required training; gives feedback on performance; counsels and coaches employees; helps initiate and follows through with disciplinary action where there are job performance issues.
o Supervises Senior System Administrators, and other positions to be determined.
o Participates on the IT Management Team to plan and implement IT policies, procedures and architecture.
o Works closely with Computer User Support Manager to coordinate the overlap between user and technical support.
o Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:
o 5 years experience in Systems and Network infrastructure management.
o Supervisory experience required; experience supervising a technical team preferred.
o Demonstrated experience in managing Windows servers.
o Technical skill to implement and maintain scalability, reliability, maintenance and security of all datacenters, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless and wired infrastructure, network monitoring, network perimeter security, critical clustered and failover systems and enterprise storage systems is required.
o Experience with IT Service Management framework (such as ITIL) preferred.
o Project management experience required.
o Experience managing WAN/LAN connectivity, including VOIP.
o Experience supporting mission critical production environments.
o Experience managing datacenter environments.
o Experience managing MS Sql, clustered, and SAN environments preferred.
o Demonstrated experience prioritizing and managing complex workflow.
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required.
o Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
o Attention to detail.
o Absolute ability to maintain confidentiality.
o Satisfactory results from criminal background check required.
