Morning news in the world of energy efficiency

Here's something that the no-we-can't wing would hate: someone telling them what colour is best for their house:The Nobel prize winner suggested that cool colours absorb less heat, drastically cutting the amount of energy required for cooling purposes.

He estimated that whitewashing houses and paved surfaces would cut global carbon emissions by as much as removing the world's entire stock of cars from the roads for 11 years.

It would be pretty boring if already 'beige' neighbourhoods were all whitewashed.  Variety is the spice of life, unless you're gay, of course.  Then you're just a sinner. [sarcasm]
Renewable energy picked because of its inherently underperforming market bias (it has nothing to do with state-sponsored fossil-fuel development or market's ignoring of externalities... no never)[sarcasm]:The money will be used to help the renewable energy sectors overcome technical hurdles, demonstrate new technologies and create new green jobs.

Approximately $350 million (£219 million) will be set aside for geothermal projects focusing on research and development, exploration techniques, resource assessment and the establishment of a national data system to classify the country's geothermal potential.

That puts dollars in my eyes.  Yes, there are winners and losers.  The winners saw this revolution coming.  "I'm a winner/things are going to change/ I can feel it" -Beck

Way to go Wales!:First minister Rhodri Morgan revealed the legally[-]binding policy, which will see Wales reduce its dependency on carbon-based energy sources by between 80 percent and 90 percent over the next 2 decades.

A legally-binding policy is an ambitious statement!  Good for them!
