I GOT A JOB!!!!
finally. a steady(ish) job.
i'm working part time with IRIS radio, part of the WFYI broadcasting family. IRIS radio stands for Indianapolis Reading Impaired Services (i think). but basically is a radio station for the print-impaired (people who are blind, people who can't read, people who can't hold a newspaper up to read it etc). and at this radio station we read the newspapers. but i am specifically an assistant operator. which means i prepare the booth for the volunteer readers, cue them up, slide some sliders on audio equipment, do pre-recordings to be aired at a later date (yesterday i recorded the department store sale ads for kmart, walmart and target. exciting i know).
i know its only part time, but as i've been telling everyone, its a start. and at least now i'm learning "skills" and real-world experience and such to put on a resume later to make myself more marketable to higher paying positions. but it makes me feel good that i'm working for a not-for-profit that helps people. so i'm not some person working purely for economic gain. i need money, but i'm getting paid because i'm doing a job that helps people. which makes me feel better.
and besides, if i stick around, who knows maybe i could end up becoming a dj? wouldn't that be insane? well, its radio, but its a start. who knows where this could go...
