Yes, I am officially addicted to FFTA now :D It has devoured most of my free time over the past few days, so I'm gonna try give it a rest for a couple of days.
This is not helped by the fact that I've found a degenerate way to seriously abuse the experience system in the game...
All you need to power level up one of your lower level characters is to have a few High level guys in your group, and let them do most of the fighting while the low level ones do minor things for lots of experience. Then, trap an enemy (preferably a white mage) in a corner and surround with Soldiers (or anyone using Soldier or Warrior abilities) and repeatedly do stuff like Magicbreak and Mindbreak to them; this gains experience whilst not hurting the enemy. Steal: Gil is another good one for this tactic. Any damage you take can easily be healed by a low level White Mage casting Cure (and gaining much experience from it). Now comes the degenerate bit.
Take your scrubs (low level party members) and have them attack your main character with weak abilities (Fire, Take Aim, Blitz etc). As your main character should be about double their level, this will give them around 20 experience each time. As above, white mages can cure the damage dealt, and also gain XP for the trouble. If you get short on MP, just use the 'Wait' command for a few turns; it gives you around 5MP each time.
This works because you gain XP by sucessfully completing actions, regardless of the target of those actions. It even works if you, say, have a Black mage cast spells on itself, or a White mage casting Cure on someone with maxed out HP.
Note: My main character is currently level 11, and the 'Scrubs' were level 5/6 when I tried this (they finished on levels 7, 8 and 9 respectively), so I don't know if this is true for very high levels. Also, you gain no extra AP for this, so you still need to fight in lots of battles to earn skills.
Kaichan will probably appreciate this tip. I remember your power-levelling sessions in other FF games!
Anyway, othe things are going quite well too. We have most of the materials for the Bunker's furniture, just needs constructing, which shouldn't take too long.
I'm almost set for my Hull visit on the weekend after this one (i.e. the 20th/21st), so the Hulligans have been warned. I'll be expecting the full red carpet treatment and prezzies! (well, maybe just casual acceptance will do, as normal).
And Kaichan, please send me an E-mail! The ones I send to your Sluggy.net account keep boucing, and I don't know which account you're using. True, I could send the E-mails to Predator, but I doubt he'd appreciate being used as a carrier pigeon :)
