Zetsu was glad to not see the mother or child again, frankly; as bad as he felt for them, he was definitely starting to resent the mother ghost. First Koizumi, then Mio.... It was a damn shame for her, but that didn't mean that he had to be happy about her attacking his companions. Still, his mind wasn't really on her anymore--his hackles were raised at the disgusting bestial noises of some kind of gruesome feeding going on inside the wall. It was all he could do not to growl at the wall as Mio pulled him along, made considerably more edgy by the fact that someone or something was being eaten in there than by the previous night's ominous scratching ( ... )

Mio wasn't surprised by the way the ghosts faded, it was a common occurrence in the village. If a passive ghost didn't fade with time or prove to be hostile, more often than not it would be gone before she even came close enough to touch it. She lowered her camera as they did, watching the filament dim and then fall dead. "Sorry..." She said to her companion quietly. She knew better than to run ahead of him like that. It could put her, or worse, him in danger, but at this point it was only natural to chase after ghosts. It was a strong pull that she couldn't quite understand ( ... )

Zetsu caught up to Mio soon after, nodding to her and blinking a little as he saw the mourners disappear. "It's fine." The disappearance was more surprising to him, but not extraordinarily so; he remembered the lonely ghost boy vanishing in much the same way, while in the kitchen. He accepted Mio's hand without comment, fingers curling around it and offering her a small squeeze of reassurance as they went to look.

Speak of the Devil and he comes.... The open grave held what was very obviously the corpse of that lonely ghost boy, eyes and mouth clearly stitched shut. Zetsu shifted uneasily, disgusted at the gesture. Whoever had done this to the boy really wanted him to be powerless, didn't they? What about his eyes? Were they still there? The thought reminded him of Al, somehow; he hoped the boy was okay.

Mio was at least able to draw a small amount of comfort from Zetsu's squeezing her hand, from his just being there. What she saw looking into the grave drew a gasp from her, for more than one reason. It was that boy...the one who had clung to her so desperately, even as the walls closed in. The one who had so desperately wanted to keep her someone close, to be cared for...and the one that had told her to stay out of the basement. The stitches reminded her of that place - of the mourners, who's eyes were sewn shut to prevent them from looking into the *, even if they'd already been blinded by doing so.

"Th-that..." She squeezed his hand as a means of dealing with the horror that came with seeing someone so close to you (and somehow he was) dead in the ground, treated in such a cruel way. The sight was enough to bring tears to her eyes. She took a deep, shuddering breath, somehow managing to recompose herself enough to speak to him in a soft, nervous voice. "He...he looks like one of the mourners." She was too distracted by the sight ( ... )

Even Zetsu had to cringe a little at the way the boy's face was sewn shut, stomach churning in disgust. It was horrific and disrespectful, even if that boy's spirit had nearly killed Mio. And that smell.... Gently, Zetsu drew Mio a few steps away from the grave, hopefully so she wouldn't be facing it--she shouldn't have to see this. "Mourners....?" He looked like those black-clad spirits standing over his grave? Where did Mio see the similarity? It personally must be going over his head, with his lack of experience.

But.... He turned back to the grave, a little, making a seal with one hand; a vine slid from his sleeve, snaking towards the grave. The boy should at least have the dignity of resting in peace without those stitches marring him. The vine tenatively--no movement from the corpse yet, that was good--tugged at the stitching, working until it had freed both eyes and mouth. The sockets gaped wide and empty, as did the mouth, and both oozed with pus and blood; Zetsu stepped back in fresh disgust. Why would they take his eyes if ( ... )
